UK's Chariot more than doubles Morocco gas field resource to 1.05 Tcf

London-The Anchois gas field offshore Morocco under development by UK-listed Chariot Oil & Gas could hold some 1.05 Tcf of remaining recoverable gas resources, more than double the volume previously estimated, the company said Sept. 7. Chariot was awarded the Lixus offshore license, which contains the existing Anchois discovery, in April last year. It was estimated to have recoverable resources of some 423 Bcf. The resource upgrade follows the reprocessing of 3-D seismic data at the field, Chariot said. “The Anchois development has the potential to supply material gas volumes into existing markets in the near-term,” Chariot's acting CEO Adonis Pouroulis said in a statement. “The exploration prospectivity of the Lixus licence is of a scale sufficient to provide the Moroccan power sector with a clean, reliable, low-cost and sustainable supply of gas for decades to come,” Pouroulis added.
