COMEX copper futures rise on payroll data, equities rally

COMEX copper futures closed more than 1 cent/lb higher July 2 after recovering from a slide in early New York trading as equities shot higher on the back of strong US jobs data. Copper for September delivery, the active month, gained 1.45 cents/lb to close at 274.85 cents/lb after recovering from a modest selloff to the 273 cents/lb level early in the session.
