Us’ excelsior targets Q2 first copper output at gunnison mine

Pittsburgh—Excelsior Mining expects copper production at its Gunnison project in Arizona will commence in the second quarter, the company said Monday. Excelsior said initial copper output will follow the completion of Gunnison’s production wellfield optimization project in March, the company said in a statement. The Phoenix-based miner commissioned the wellfield optimization project to increase acid injection breakthrough and improve efficiency at Gunnison for long-term production performance. Gunnison said the project will be complete once free acid is detected at designated recovery wells.
