Molybdenum oxide prices rose Sept. 30, despite looming Asian holidays, with continued buying interest in China accompanied by an upturn in European demand, market sources said. “It’s a surprise to see the Chinese keep buying all the way before the holiday,” said an Asian trader, as multiple lots of oxide powder were reported sold in Tianjin at $8.20/lb for mid-October release. Chinese public holidays run Oct. 1-8, while South Korean markets are also closed starting Sept. 30 for the remainder of the week.
