US precious mixed as gold falls after equities rally

Washington—US precious metals closed mixed Monday as COMEX gold futures lost more than $4/oz as equity markets rallied early in the session. Gold for December delivery, the active month, closed $4.40/oz lower at $1,511.10/oz after a rally in late London/early New York trading took the market to $1,524/oz as the US dollar retreated to the mid-$1.10 range against the euro.
