Codelco copper, moly output slumps in February amid rains

Production at Chile’s Codelco, the world’s largest producer of copper, slumped to an eight-year low in February as the company’s operations were hit by torrential rains, government data showed Monday. The state-owned mining firm produced 115,100 mt of copper, down 19.3% from 12 months earlier, with all divisions reporting lower output for the month. The largest fall was at its Chuquicamata, Ministro Hales and Radomiro Tomic divisions, which produced 50,500 mt of copper, down 26.5% from a year earlier, according to the monthly report released by the Chilean Copper Commission.
