Pittsburgh—Alcoa plans to review its operating portfolio, specifically its smelting and alumina refining capacity, in order to reduce costs and improve sustainable profitability, according to its third-quarter earnings results released Wednesday. “Just last month, we introduced a new operating model to create a leaner, more operator-centric organization, and today we are announcing a significant review of our portfolio that demonstrates a drive for continued improvement,” CEO Roy Harvey said in the company’s earnings statement.
