Jamaica’s Alpart sees 600,000- 700,000 mt output in 2019

Singapore—The Alpart alumina refinery in Nain, Jamaica, is expected to produce 600,000-700,000 mt of alumina in 2019, depending on when the plant will shut down for a major overhaul later this year, a source from its China parent company Jiuquan Iron & Steel, or JISCO, said Monday. JISCO bought Alpart from Russia’s Rusal in November 2016, fired up the furnaces in June 2017, and resumed alumina production in October 2017, after the plant had been idle for eight years.
