High frequency in vitro shoot multiplication of Plumbago indica, a rare medicinal plant.

A method for the production of multiple shoots of P. indica is presented. Nodal explants (1.5-cm long) cultured on MS [Murashige and Skoog] medium supplemented with benzyladenine (0.25-3 mg/litre) and IAA (0.05-0.2 mg/litre) or adenine sulfate produced multiple shoots. The best combination for shoot and adventitious bud production was benzyladenine at 3 mg/litre in combination with adenine sulfate at 25 mg/litre.
