Chevron Phillips Chemical Commlssions Two New Marlex PE Units at Old Ocean

Houston— Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. (CPChem) said it has successfully commissioned and begun start-up of its two new Marlex polyethylene (PE) plants in Old Ocean, Texas (PCN, 26 June 2017, p 1). The facilities, part of CPChem's $6-billion petrochemical project on the U.S. Gulf Coast, each have the capacity to produce up to 500,000 t/y of PE. The units can produce a wide range of PE resin from metallocene linear low-density PE film to bi-modal film and pipe products.
