Evrv— Global Bioenergies (Global Bio) announced it has moved its C3 process to produce bio-based acetone and isopropanol to demo scale, paving the way towards a first commercial plant (PCN, 18-25 Dec 2017, p 3). The C3 process is based on converting renewable resources by fermentation using bacterial strains with an engineered cellular metabolism. The core metabolism oi the strains is rewired to increase the production yields from sugars, reducing the production costs of bio-based products.
