Just as the 'natural' trend has been steadily growing for years,brightening seems to be pushing the boundaries and is still a hot topic for formulators worldwide.Brightening ingredients have different applications from one continent to another.If intended to lighten the skin all over-for example in Asia-the products containing it will be applied to all of the body,including the underarms.In Europe,on the other hand,only age spots will be targeted very locally.The vocabulary used for marketing claims will also be adapted to geography.Some will talk about whitening,while others will prefer words such as lightening,brightening or even radiance,or simply refer to unification of the complexion.Regardless of these differences in marketing,formulators have one and the same goal: to effectively and safely inhibit melanin production.Naturalness is still a very important factor in a world where consumers are more aware of their purchases and increasingly turning towards renewable raw materials.
