Taiwan containerized scrap prices continue to push lower for fourth week

Singapore—Containerized scrap prices to Taiwan trended lower for the fourth consecutive week on a flurry of lower deals before buyers retreated for the National Day holidays Oct. 9, sources said. S&P Global Platts daily TSI HMS I/II 80:20 containerized scrap spot price was assessed at $265/mt CFR Taiwan on Oct. 9, down $5/ mt week on week. Several deals for USWC HMS I/II 80:20 cargoes to Taiwan were heard at $265/mt CFR on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, down $5/mt week on week. Offers sat in a range of $270-$272/mt CFR midweek, down $3-$5/ mt week on week. However, bids were few and far between, at $260- $265/mt CFR on Oct. 8, before buyers left for the holidays.
