South Korea's POSCO posts 22% quarterly rise in Q3 crude steel output

Singapore—South Korea’s POSCO produced about 9.50 million mt of crude steel in the third quarter of 2020, up 21.9% from the second quarter, but down 0.6% year on year, the steelmaker said in a presentation to shareholders Oct. 23. The rise in quarter-on-quarter crude steel production was partly due to the restart of POSCO's No. 3 blast furnace at Gwangyang on July 10 after completion of scheduled works, which boosted the furnace's volume to 5,500 cubic meters from 4,600 cu m and output by 25% to 4.6 million mt/year.
