Taiwan CFR container HMS prices continue to rise

Singapore—The CFR Taiwan containerized heavy melting scrap market saw prices ticking up for a second week as US-based suppliers held back offers in anticipation that these could rise, Taiwanese market sources said. S&P Global Platts TSI HMS I/II 80:20 containerized scrap was assessed at $278/mt CFR Taiwan Friday, up $8/mt from a week ago. Taiwanese buyers, although resistant about accepting the increase, placed tradable values at $275-$278/mt CFR Friday for US 80:20 material, according to Platts' survey.
