March iron ore cargoes in strong demand

The seaborne iron ore market rose Monday on stronger demand for March delivery cargoes. S&P Global Platts assessed the 62% Fe Iron Ore Index at $88.80/dry mt CFR North China Monday, up $1.45/dmt from Friday. The front-month March TSI swap rose $1.60/dmt to $86.05/dmt, also from Friday. The market has picked up because a greater import profit is now possible when buying from the seaborne market and discharging at Chinese ports.
