Singapore—The seaborne metallurgical coal prices for the premium hard segment were steady Monday amid a slow start to the week, but pulverized coal injection prices rose on fresh trade. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol coal flat at $195.50/mt FOB Australia, while the CFR China assessment was steady at $204.50/mt Monday. In China, trading activities between sellers and buyers were thin Monday. "No one is giving any indications, the traders included," a sell-side source said. Two seller sources said there was thin buying interest from Chinese end-users and they were not giving price indications.
