SM Beats Guidance But Warns of Gas Plant Issues

US independent SM Energy soared past its production estimates for the third quarter but warned it may come up short in the fourth quarter due to downtime at a gas-processing plant in the Permian Basin. SM pumped about 130,200 barrels of oil equivalent per day (42% oil), which is about 3% more than the upper end of the company's guidance. The results were due to better-than-expected well performance in the Midland subbasin of the Permian and higher processed natural gas liquids volumes in the South Texas Eagle Ford Shale.
