Stonepeak Invests $1.3B in Louisiana LNG Plant

Venture Global has now lined up long-time LNG investor Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners to provide a $1.3 billion equity investment in its 10 million ton/yr Calcasieu Pass LNG export project in Louisiana. Stonepeak’s long history in the LNG business, and the size of the investment, makes this a strong endorsement of the project, especially in light of the fact that the project didn’t see a formal final investment decision (FID), but rather an “internal” FID that has left industry observers wondering aloud about the financing for the project.
