Exxon Mobil has reaffirmed its commitment to its projects offshore Guyana as it awaits the conclusion of a contract review for the already delayed Payara development. Pending negotiations between the oil giant and the new Guyanese government could further lengthen that time frame. Exxon is the operator of the Stabroek Block in the country's offshore, alongside partners Hess and China National Offshore Oil Corp. To date, the companies have found more than 8 billion barrels of oil equivalent off Guyana's coast and plan a total of five developments in the area, with total production expected to reach 750,000 barrels per day in 2026.
