Gazprom Neft Less Enthusiastic Over Kurdistan

Russia’s Gazprom Neft has prioritized one of its projects in the Iraqi semiautonomous region of Kurdistan, while the future of two others will largely depend on exploration success in the region and prices. “We should focus on developing the Sarkala field” in Kurdistan, Gazprom Neft’s deputy CEO Vadim Yakovlev recently told journalists. “Development of other blocks will depend on exploration results,” he added. Sarkala, located at the Garmian Block, is the only producing asset operated by Gazprom Neft, while the company continues exploration at the Shakal and Halabja Blocks.
