US Mulls Milder Financial Sanctions on Russia

The US Congress approved last week sanctions on Russian sover- eign debt over Moscow’s alleged in- terference in the US elections. However, the punitive measures that forbid the purchase of new is- sues of Russian state bonds were included in the draft of the 2020 defense budget, which is still to be approved by both chambers of the US parliament and endorsed by President Donald Trump.
