The Trans Adriatic Pipeline(TAP),the final piece in the Southern Gas Corridor that runs over 3,500 kilometers from the Caspian Sea to Italy,is just months away from starting operations and opening a new supply route for southern and Central Europe.But the long-term suppliers of the gas,including BP and Azerbaijan's state-run oil company Socar,are fretting at the state of European gas markets,where prices have crashed this year due to a decline in demand caused by Covid-19 and an abundance of supply,including LNG.
