China Enjoys Cheaper Russian,Central Asian Gas

Gazprom's price for pipeline exports of gas to China posted a monthly drop of 20% to $145.2/Mcm($4.10/MMBtu)in August,reflecting weak oil prices earlier this year,Energy Intelligence has calculated based on Chinese customs data.The same dynamic holds true for Central Asian gas: the price of Turkmenistan gas deliveries to China fell 14% on the month to $195.5/Mcm in August,while Uzbekistan's price decreased 15% to $181.6/Mcm.Kazakhstan's price,meanwhile,was distorted by an almost complete halt in supplies for July.Compared with June,the August price for Kazakh gas in China decreased only 4% to $185.5/Mcm.
