Iberian mining scene heats up

There is more to Southern Europe than seafood, sun and a good bottle of red. Mining is slowly re-establishing itself in this part of the continent, with Spain and Portugal two particular hot spots. One uses 're-establishing' here because the two countries have a significant mining history. In Spain, the Romans mined gold in the province of Leon in the first century BC and copper in Huelva, while it is thought the Phoenicians extracted copper and silver, in Alentejo, Portugal.
