China notifies WTO of impurity thresholds on ferrous, non-ferrous scrap imports

China has told the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its intention toadopt waste thresholds on a number of imported scrap products thisweek, drawing criticism from recycling industry organizations.The threshold for impurities allowed in ferrous scrap imports toChina will be 0.50%, with the rate for non-ferrous scrap imports setat 1%.The proposed standards would apply to shipments arriving on orafter March 1, 2018, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) said onFriday November 17.
