The adoption of China’s “Go Out” policy by domestic marketparticipants to secure a steady inflow of foreign-sourced rawmaterials will determine the future of the Chinese aluminiumindustry, the vice president of Aluminium Corp of China tolddelegates at the China Aluminium Forum in Fuzhou on November 16.Domestic reserves of bauxite in China have shrunk drastically inrecent years, accounting for less than 5% of global reserves,according to Lu Dongliang. However, the country’s annual bauxiteoutput and consumption represent 25% and 50% of global levels,respectively, resulting in a significant deficit in supply of the rawmaterial in the country, he added.
