Russian domestic HR, CR sheet prices rise on export strength

Prices for Russia-origin hot rolled (HR) and cold rolled (CR) sheet haverisen further over the past week, reflecting a sharp rise in CIS exportflat steel prices.The prices of CIS-origin hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC)have gone up by $70-78 per tonne on average over the past month,pushed by the growth in Chinese export prices.“The driver behind our domestic price rise is clearly the growth inexport prices,” a source on the Russian steel producers’ side said.“If the rises are not accepted in the domestic market, we will sellfor export,” he added.
