Global zinc output to rise by 555,000 tonnes in 2020, Founder Commodity says

The global production of refined zinc in 2020 is expected to increase by 555,000 tonnes amid high treatment charges (TCs) for zinc concentrates, Yuan Yuchen of Founder Commodity told delegates at the 2019 Lead & Zinc Week in Kunming on Wednesday October 16. Fastmarkets’ assessment of zinc spot concentrate TCs, cif China, was $270-305 per tonne on September 27, compared with the multi-year low of $10-30 per tonne in the first two months of 2018. China will contribute 300,000 tonnes of the 555,000 tonnes of growth next year, Yuan added. A further100,000 tonnes is expected to come from Hindustan Zinc, with 50,000 tonnes from Nystar operations in Australia and Europe, and 40,000 tonnes from American Zinc Recycling.
