ArcelorMittal Italia to idle equipment by mid-January

All equipment at the ArcelorMittal Italia flat steel plant in Taranto, southern Italy, will be idled by the middle of January 2020, the company confirmed on Friday November 15. This follows global steelmaker ArcelorMittal’s decision, announced last week, to pull out of the deal for the plant. The steelmaker will put equipment on stand-by. Blast furnace (BF) No2 will be idled in the middle of December this year, BF No4 will be stopped at the end of the same month, and finally BF No1 and other steelmaking equipment will be idled in the middle of January.
