Seaborne coking coal prices fell on Thursday September 5, with the quantum of decline leaving some market participants stunned. Two cargoes of premium mid-vol hard coking coal were traded at $143 per tonne fob Australia and $149 per tonne fob Australia respectively, sources said during the day. Fastmarkets could not confirm the buyers involved in the transactions at the time of writing, though some market participants speculated that they might be based in India. A cargo of branded materials was also offered on the Global Coal trading platform at $149 per tonne fob Australia during the day, sources said.
