Indian power plant coal stocks fall on higher burn, lower imports

Coal stocks at Indian power plants fell another 3% in the latest week on higher generation and restricted supplies amid low intake of imports. Stocks at the 135 coal-fired plants (162.53 GW) monitored by the country’s Central Electricity Authority (CEA) fell to 35.36 mt on 14 September, from 36.35 mt on 8 September. Imported coal stocks fell 11% on the week to 0.65 mt, while domestic stocks declined by 3% to 34.71 mt.
