India: MOP demand for NPKs expected to increase

Demand for MOP may increase in India in the coming months as producers switch some DAP output to NPK output on the back of higher DAP production costs, market participants suggest. Indian DAP production costs have increased due to higher phosphoric acid and ammonia prices. Traders in India report that they are expecting a new Indian potash contract for 2018/19 to be settled before producers agree a new contract with China due to the higher MOP demand and India's comparatively low inventories.
