Argentina: General strike hits fertilizer buying

Traders and suppliers said this week that DAP/MAP demand remained well below expectations in Argentina following a 50% slump in the value of the peso against the US dollar so far this year and rampant inflation. Argentina’s largest labour union Confederacion General de Trabajadores (CGT) enforced a general strike on September 25 in response to the country’s faltering economy and President Macri’s economic policies. The main agricultural port of Rosario was forced to close.
