SE Asia: Potash prices assessed higher

Southeast Asia standard MOP spot prices were assessed up at $250-265/mt CFR from $240-265/mt CFR previously as buyers in Malaysia are reportedly no longer able to secure purchases in the $240s/mt CFR. Distributors in Malaysia quoted $250/mt CFR as the minimum spot price, adding that appreciation of the Malaysian ringgit against the US dollar had contributed to the increase. The comments follow reports in December that most tenders for H1 shipment to Malaysian had been awarded in the low $250s/mt CFR. Producers reported most recent first-quarter sales to Malaysia around $255/mt CFR.
