A lack of prompt activity is reported in the international UAN market, pressuring prices downwards. However, May looks more promising at least in terms of enduser demand if not prices. The only prompt demand for cargoes comes from Canada. Two importers are in the market for at least one or two cargos in total of UAN-32 for loading mid-May. In the US, Iowa Fertilizer Co. has started production April 14; however sales of UAN may come after the plant begins shipping granular urea. The US East Coast saw an absence of new UAN business and cheaper urea meant indications for imported UAN-32 declined to $170-180/mt CFR.
