Brazilian importers of granular urea have been holding off on purchases this week pending further clarity on prices, limited market liquidity and the volatile value of the Brazilian currency that traded down to BRL 5.16/$ in recent days. Initial offers from mainstream suppliers around $260/t CFR failed to attract counters following sales at $252-255/t CFR at the end of last week, and offers were gradually reduced down to $250/t CFR. These did also not trigger buying interest, and some importers claimed ready access to offers at $242-245/CFR for parcels off carriers yet to arrive in Brazilian waters.
