Madagascar: Ambatovy shutdown limits sulphur demand

Demand for sulphur imports is expected to be curtailed after production was suspended at the Ambatovy nickel operation last week. The operation is a joint venture between Sherritt International, Sumitomo, and Korea Resources. Sumitomo said that curfews and public transportation suspension has led to difficulties in employees securing access to the site and logistic stagnation. Operations are to be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of employees and their families.
