US Gulf: Operational hiccups hinder ammonia trade

Imports for industrial consumption in Texas, as well as some production in the region is slowing ammonia trade in the US Gulf this month. At least one large industrial consumer is reported to have halted some operations while it deals with downstream production problems, according to regional players. At the same time, there are unconfirmed reports that OCI's Beaumont, Texas operation had a breakdown in its methanol production. This has left the company to make more ammonia, increasing availability for domestic and export interests.
