Fernie, B.C. Evacuation Lifted Oct. 22; California Leak Reported Oct. 23

The City of Fernie lifted the evacuation order near the Fernie Memorial Arena on Sunday, Oct. 22, six days after the Oct. 17 ammonia leak that killed three maintenance workers (GM Oct. 20, p. 29). The arena and community center will remain closed. Some 55 homes were evacuated in the area as of Oct. 22.
