Israel hopes East Med gas pipeline will spur interest in second offshore round

Israel is pressing forward with plans to develop its natural gas reserves via a second offshore round and secure a route to market for the volumes – despite low interest in a previous round and evident challenges to building the ambitious East Med subsea pipeline to Europe. Israel’s energy ministry launched the round on Monday with renewed promises to develop the 2,100 km, 20 Bcm-capacity Israel to Europe gas pipeline.
