RWE’s mothballed 1.3 GW Claus C combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) in the Netherlands is set for a new lease of life generating on the Dutch grid and exporting power to Belgium, where nuclear power is to be phased out by 2025. Claus C, which has been idle for four years, will be rebooted and start feeding power to the domestic market by end-2020, "due to the increasing demand for variable power and positive developments in the wholesale market," RWE said.
