Trump pushes ahead with Arctic refuge drilling plan as Democrats pass bill in vain

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at blocking oil and gas drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), however the move is largely symbolic as it is not expected to gain traction in the Republican-led Senate. The vote came on the same day the Trump administration published a final environmental impact statement (EIS) for a planned ANWR lease sale.
