UK regulator investigates North Sea gas field dispute over Cygnus platform access

The UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has initiated an investigation into a dispute that threatens to delay development of the Pegasus gas and condensate field in the Southern North Sea. Field operator Spirit Energy - formed in 2017 by the merger of Centrica’s E&P business with Bayerngas Norge - had been hoping to reach final investment decision this year, with production due to start in 2021-23. The project is now on hold pending the outcome of the OGA’s “non- binding dispute resolution investigation”, which is expected to take around three months.
