Bulgaria's gas hub dream advances as Trayport picked as platform operator

Bulgaria's Balkan Gas Hub has selected European platform operator Trayport's Exchange Trading System (ETS) for the new regional gas bourse that is due to open in the Black Sea city of Varna in the new year. Trayport, the London-based and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canada's TMX Group, will be in charge of implementing the first Bulgaria-based liquid physical and gas trading hub that proponents hope will pave the way to greater competition among suppliers and erode Gazprom's stranglehold on the market.
