Shell buys Australian 'carbon farming' specialist in drive for net-zero emissions

Shell is to buy Australian carbon sequestration startup Select Carbon as part of its ambition to become a net zero company by 2050, the Anglo-Dutch oil major said in a statement today. The acquisition is the first by Shell's Nature-Based Solutions division, which pursues “natural” and sustainable practices to offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the group's wider oil and gas operations.
