Jordanian parliament’s bid to ban NEPCO’s ‘cheap’ Israeli gas imports seen as futile

Jordan’s 130-member lower house yesterday unanimously passed a draft law prohibiting the import of natural gas from Israel. Parliament intends to send the measure to the cabinet to be made into law, but this may be obstructed by the circumstances of the agreements between Jordanian companies and US operator Noble Energy. The Jordanian Supreme Court ruled previously that the agreement is private and does not involve Jordanian or Israeli government entities.
