Large Bohai Bay oil discovery

China’s state-owned CNOOC Limited has made “a large-sized discovery” on the Kenli 6-1 area in Bohai Bay offshore northeast China. The find “is expected to be the first large-sized oil field in Laibei lower uplift,” said CNOOC Ltd. The Kenli 6-1 structure is located in Laibei lower uplift in the southern Bohai Basin with an average water depth of around 19m (62ft).
