A strong downstream performance and higher-than-expected oil and gas production helped BP double its third-quarter replacement cost profit to $1.87 billion, the firm said Tuesday. BP also announced plans to resume its share buyback program to counteract the dilutive effect of its ongoing scrip dividend policy.
