Gazprom-led Nord Stream 2 AG, operator of the planned Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, has been granted a permit to lay the subsea section of the pipe in Russia’s territorial waters by environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor. The project has now received all the necessary permits from Russia to allow the 55 Bcm/yr pipeline to move ahead in line with the planned schedule, although the scheme still faces strong opposition from some EU countries and sanctions threats from the US.
